Having your heart broken is a really bitter sweet feeling for me. Bitter because you were just hurt by someone you cared about. Sweet because you start to get to know the person he really is. My goal the last year has been to not end on bad terms with him, because in 10 years from now, when I look back on my teenage years, prom in particular, I want to smile. I don’t want to tell my kids that my prom date broke my heart more times than I can even tell them about. But I’ll do it, because I want to be strong. I’ve been hurt on several occasions, and I usually… slowly… rebound into myself again. This time, I’m happier than I’ve ever been. I’m not going to miss the way we were, because I was never really happy. Now, I’m filled with relief, almost like a weight has been lifted off my shoulder. I’m ready to start fresh, and I can only go forward from here.
